About

Letting the Work Speak

Janus Bruns is an artist and former architect working between handmade ceramics and abstract painting. His practice is shaped by an ongoing relationship with raw materials—clay, pigment, paper—and an intuitive process that leaves room for unpredictability.

Drawing from natural forms, ancient artefacts, and the aesthetics of weathered surfaces, his ceramics explore shape and texture with a quiet strength. His paintings often combine bold gestures with gold leaf detailing, resulting in minimalist compositions with a sense of depth and luxury.

Janus approaches making as a process of listening—of allowing the material to guide the outcome. There is no predetermined result; the work reveals itself through doing. Especially in sculpture, the essence of a piece often takes shape early on, in the first pull of clay. What follows is a process of refinement and letting go.

Workshops

Weekly workshops run every Tuesday and Thursday from 14:00 to 16:00.

Sessions are practical and informal, open to all skill levels. You’ll have access to materials, tools, and guidance — whether you’re exploring clay for the first time or refining a technique.

Follow on Instagram for updates. We occasionally add evening classes, children’s sessions during school holidays, and focused workshops on sculpture, glazing, and painting.
