Janus Bruns is an artist and former architect working between handmade ceramics and abstract painting. His practice is shaped by an ongoing relationship with raw materials—clay, pigment, paper—and an intuitive process that leaves room for unpredictability.

Drawing from natural forms, ancient artefacts, and the aesthetics of weathered surfaces, his ceramics explore shape and texture with a quiet strength. His paintings often combine bold gestures with gold leaf detailing, resulting in minimalist compositions with a sense of depth and luxury.

Janus approaches making as a process of listening—of allowing the material to guide the outcome. There is no predetermined result; the work reveals itself through doing.
